Help Kete by tagging Maori Land Court minutes

Adding tags that name places, people, iwi and events etc make the minutes searchable - and thus more useful.

The Library has bought 49 bound volumes of photocopies of the handwritten Maori Land Court Minutes and we are scanning the minutes to make them readable on Kete in PDF format. In addition we have volunteers who are typing up this material into Kete Horowhenua to provide electronic searching.

Unfortunately often the handwriting is difficult to read or the minute-taker did not know the correct spelling of the names of people or places.Adding Tags is one way we are trying to help with this situation.

Tagging is really easy once you get started!. It involves Registering with Kete (once only) then Logging In, finding the minutes to tag, clicking on the Edit button and typing in the correct spelling (or alternative spellings) in the Tag field. Click here for more details on Tagging.

The Kete crew will be happy to help you get you 'up to speed' with this process. We are located at the Levin Library.

The first volume of minutes is ready for tagging - click here to go there now.
