Town and Country Quilters held their third Rhapsody in Fabric Exhibition in Thompson House August 11th to 13th 2006.
DateAugust 11th to 13th 2006.
LocationThompson House, Levin.

Members were offered the Challenge of making a small wallhanging that had to include the piece of fabric supplied and to be inspired by the Letter S.

1st place winner was Frances Johns who had purchased a pattern she liked with Sunflowers – this was a good excuse to use this pattern.

2nd place was Sandra Collins. Sandra’s quilt was inspired by a book by Cara Guati. Sandra just loved this book and had seen it demonstrated by Simply Quilts.

3rd place was Marjorie Booth. Marjorie has another fantastic fabric that went with the challenge fabric to inspire her Storm at Sea pattern.

Novice winner was Lesley Marshall. Lesley was inspired by a Teddy Bears picnic at the Seaside – her own design.

Viewers Choice for the Challenge was won by Paula Shailer. Paula’s quilt was inspired by a basic outline drawing adapted to suit appliqué and machine embellishment. Many hours were spent stitching and experimenting with the sewing machine.

Many quilts were displayed throughout Thompson House with the Overall Viewers Choice being won by Doreen Mudgeway. Doreen’s quilt was from a pattern she had always wanted to make. One of the most difficult patterns she had ever attempted. Very Challenging, more unpicking than sewing. The pattern looked very different, that was her inspiration that turned in frustration but it did not get the better of her.
