Letter written on back with purple pencil: “Dear Mrs Hallam Got printers cramp so take to pencil. Winnie looking splendid, toddles with Dolce everywhere now. All gone to bed but Mum & I. Show over, a great success. Powelka out yet. R.W. Taylor a daughter about a month old sold his cows out too. With love A Brown”

The centre picture shows Plimmer Terrace looking north, with children playing on the unpaved road. The buildings in this photograph have been identified from left to right as the Albion Hotel, several unidentified businesses, W.H. Gunning, a further unidentified business and Dunckley (drapers). The bottom picture shows the Church of the Venerable Bede (Anglican) at its original site in Bryce Street.
